OOTD: Fall is right around the corner

In honor of the slightly cooler temperatures lately, I've been putting together outfits with more fall-like colors and fabrics.

Here's my outfit for class yesterday. I love getting to wear my beloved "deer & bird print" dress (a.k.a. the Southward Stop Dress from Anthro) again! I paired it with a short sleeve cardigan, purple belt, and wedges but I'm looking forward to adding purple tights and boots in the months to come.

I wore this sweater skirt from Ruche on Sunday when Sara and I went to the movies. We saw The Help and I was pleasantly surprised that it was as good as the book. I don't say that often!

And of course, here's a Maia picture! ;-) She's getting so big!

Maia and Jeffy on the couch. My spot is right between them. :-)

Is anyone else excited about Fall clothes? It's my favorite time of the year!!

Back to School OOTD: Color-Blocked

It's been a busy few days here! My sister came for a visit over the weekend to see Maia and she really enjoyed getting to spend some time with her. Then Maia turned one month old on Monday! I can't believe she's already that old. The time is flying by.

Yesterday was my first day back at school teaching twice a week for a few hours. Luckily my husband gets to work from home on those two days so he was able to take care of Maia while I was gone. He said she did great! I missed her a lot though.

Here's my first day of school outfit:

Color-Blocked Sweater Skirt (Anthropologie)
White Blouse (Ann Taylor)
Necklace (Anthropologie)
Wedges (Target)

And a couple of cute Maia pictures ;-)

Anthro + Baby

Check out Molly's recent blog post about Anthro-lovers rocking the baby bump: HERE. I sent her a couple of pictures of my favorite Anthro outfits that I wore while I was pregnant and she included them along with some other very stylish ladies. I love seeing how others styled their bumps and remained fashionable! ;-)

Mommy & Maia: First Anthro Shopping Trip

Can you believe Maia is already 3.5 weeks old?! This weekend my mom and I took her on her first shopping trip (we had to buy some presents for her daddy's birthday) and of course we had to make a stop at Anthropologie.

She was getting a little sleeping and yawning in this picture but she enjoyed the bright colors and music in the store and the sales people loved seeing the littlest Anthro fan. :-)

My mom got me the Colorblocked Sweater Skirt to wear on my first day back at school next week.

Did anyone else do any shopping this past weekend? It was a tax-free weekend in Florida so we got a little break on our purchases! :-)

OOTD + Anthro Wishlist

I'm working on a "Maia's first week" post (with pictures of her party at grandma's and her first visit to the beach), which I'll post tomorrow. In the meantime, I thought I'd share my OOTD and my current Anthro wishlist. :-)

I got this blouse from Ross a few months ago for really cheap. It reminds me of some of the Anthro blouses by Odille from the last few years.

I'm hoping to make a trip to Anthro soon to check out early fall arrivals and do some reviews. It's been too long! ;-) Fall clothes are my favorite so I can't wait to see what they'll have this year. So far, these items are at the top of my wishlist to try on:

Ajisai Dress: The unusual pattern caught my eye but I have no idea if it will actually look good on me. Has anyone seen any reviews of this yet on anyone's blog??

Montaigne Tee: simple stripes on navy, looks like a good wardrobe staple :-)

Map of the World Skirt: This looks so pretty! Plus, my husband makes maps, so I think even he would approve. ;-) I missed out on the cartography cardigan but I might like this skirt even more.

Loosened Shelby Blouse: I like this new pattern even better than the earlier versions!

Whirligig Dress: This is one of those dresses that might look awful on me but it's worth trying on. I have a feeling the sleeves might hit in a weird place on my arm and the front might be too drapey. I love it from the waist down though and I like all the colors it comes in.

Textured Dots Tights: A must have for my tights collection!

What's on everyone else's wishlists, Anthro and otherwise? Anyone else looking forward to fall weather and fashions like I am? Can we just fast-forward through the rest of summer? I'm already tired of the heat and humidity. ;-)

Baby Shower: Tea Party

Wow, where has June gone?! I've been so busy this month that I haven't had time to keep up with the blog. My sister came to visit for a week and while she was here I had my baby shower. It was a beautiful Victorian tea party! We all had so much fun celebrating my baby girl who will be here before I know it.

Here are a few pictures from the event. My dear friend Sara (fellow blogger at Mommyland) took most of the photos and they turned out great.

I had to wear some Anthro on my special day, of course! After searching for a Sugar & Cream dress (the one with the teacups) on Ebay & the Trade Market to no avail, I decided to try on my Jacqueline dress and it still zips right up, so I built my outfit around that. I love this new green cardigan from the Limited too. Add some jewelry, a cute bow belt, and my favorite Anthro oxfords, and you've got a fun party outfit.

Jacqueline Dress (Anthropologie)
Green Cardigan (The Limited)
Gift Bow Belt (Anthropologie)
Pessinus Garden necklace (Anthropologie)
Hallowed Halls Oxfords (Anthropologie)

Here's my sister next to one of the elegant table settings:

My awesome Fossil diaper bag from Mom (stuffed with diapers, bottles, and toys)!

Car seat from Grandma Tina:

My little girl is going to be very well dressed! ;-) She already has so many cute outfits and five pairs of shoes!!

Me & both of the grandmas-to-be:

We got so many beautiful gifts and are pretty much set with all the gear that we need for the baby thanks to our generous friends and family. Now we've just got to wait about five more weeks for her to arrive!!

OOTD: Breaking Out & Cardigan Review #2

This is one of my favorite outfits that I've put together in a long time. I desperately needed to break out of my jersey dress rut so I decided to build my outfit around a skirt instead. The grey ruffle blouse happened to be hanging next to the skirt in the closet so I gave it a try and surprisingly it buttoned up over the baby bump (thanks to generously stretchy smocking on the back of the blouse). I knew I wanted to wear another new short-sleeve cardigan and I really like the color combination of the plum with the gold-yellow of the skirt. The grey & black oxfords and purple belt tied the whole outfit together. Not bad for my first attempt at breaking out of my boring rut, right?

Purple Cardigan (Limited -- buy here)
Yellow Field Skirt (Anthropologie)
Purple Belt (Anthropologie)
Grey Ruffle Blouse (TJ Maxx)
Hallowed Halls Oxfords (Anthropologie)

This is another of the short-sleeve cardigans that I promised to review. I got this one on sale a few weeks ago at the Limited (though it appears to be back to full price online now). I love the ruched sleeves, which make it a bit more dressy and different from my other purple cardigans. It's a lovely plum shade, but online it also comes in blue, white, black, and deep purple. I'd say it runs true to size but is a bit longer (at least on me, since I'm so short) than some of my other cardigans. I really have to thank Jacquelyn for posting about this cardigan because I haven't shopped at the Limited in years and didn't realize what cute things I was missing! See her in the black version of the cardigan here.

I'm Back (with an updated Wishlist too!)

Sorry about my long absence! Last weekend we moved into our new rental house and we've been without internet all week. We're not too far from our previous house, but I like the neighborhood better and we're near a couple of parks that we can walk to. We're settling in but still have a bunch of stuff to unpack. I can't wait to get the baby's room set up!

I haven't been taking any OOTD pictures lately, so instead, I'll share my updated wishlist:

1. Bassotto Necklace: I NEED this dachshund necklace but just realized it is sold out online! I was trying to wait until it went on sale but now I'm afraid I'm going to have a hard time finding one. It looks like my beloved Abby who passed away last year so I have to find one so I can wear it in memory of her. Has anyone spotted this necklace in stores? I'll call CS on Monday to search for one but would appreciate any help if someone sees one in their store this weekend.

2. Loosened Shelby Blouse: I love all three versions of this blouse but I think the green is my favorite. I'd love to pick up one of these to wear post-pregnancy.

3. Tiny Tea Rose Posts in yellow: These are so dainty and pretty! I think they'd go with lots of outfits and would be a great addition to my jewelery collection.

4. Wispy Cirrus Blouse: This has been out for awhile but it's still high on my list even though I've never actually seen it in person. I just love the lace and the shade of blue on the sash. I don't have anything like this in my closet and would love to pick it up on sale if there are any left.

5. Sail Shapes Dress: This is another one I haven't gotten to see in person but it has looked so cute on Kim and Sara. Hopefully I can track this one down when it goes on sale too and add it to my post-pregnancy wardrobe.

6. Charleston Cloche: I don't generally look good in hats because I have a ginormous head, but I think I'd like to give this one a try if it goes on sale before our beach vacation next month. Has anyone tried this on? Any opinions?

7. Old Navy Maternity Jean Skirt: The first jean skirt I ordered was way too big, but this one is cuter anyway. I've been embracing the full-panel styles lately since they're just more comfortable at this point. :-)

So, what's on your wishlist? I've seen some good sales lately at LOFT, The Limited, Old Navy, and Target. I got a couple of short-sleeve cardigans for this summer which I'll try to review when they get here.

Have a nice weekend and Easter holiday!

OOTD: Green Stripes

Just a quick post from me this morning! This is my outfit from last night's class. I was hesitant at first to wear horizontal stripes over my growing belly but I love this dress and it miraculously still zips up so I decided to wear it anyway. ;-) I paired it with my beloved Blooming Lattice cardigan which always gets compliments anytime I wear it. It's definitely a fun twist on the classic navy cardigan and I think it might be my most-worn Anthro piece.

Blooming Lattice Cardigan (Anthropologie)
Green Striped Dress (Shabby Apple)
Sandals (Target)

I've got so many things on my "to do" list that must get done this week, so I've got to run, but I hope everyone is having a great week. Is anyone already planning something fun for the weekend? I'll tell you about our weekend plans in my next post. :-)

OOTD: Farewell to Boots (until Fall)

Ok, don't laugh but after weeks of sandals, I wore my boots yesterday. We had an unexpectedly cool day yesterday so I thought I'd give my beloved Anthro boots one more wear before packing them away until the fall. It might sound a bit silly to wear boots in Florida in April but I got great compliments on them and my whole outfit so I guess people didn't think it was too weird looking. ;-) It's always cold in the building where I teach my class on Wednesday nights, so this long sleeve cardigan was really comfortable. My students told me they liked my outfit and that I always dress cute. They're so sweet! :-)

Field Game Cardigan look-alike (RXB at Belk)
Navy dress (Bealls, gift from Mom)
Gilded Impatiens Necklace (Anthropologie)
Gift Bow Belt (Anthropologie)
Boot socks (Dillards)
Berry Stitched Boots (Anthropologie)

Are there any articles of clothing or accessories you'll miss when summer hits? My favorite season is Fall so boots and sweaters are my favorites. I'll miss them over the next few months!

"Anthro-esque" finds at Target & Kohls

Hi Anthro-fans! I've seen some "Anthro-esque" pieces lately that I wanted to share with everyone. I haven't seen these mentioned on any of the blogs I read regularly, so here's a heads up for anyone who might have missed out on these Anthro items or anyone who just wants something similar at a great price. :-)

First up is this cute cardigan that I got last week at Target. It's really reminiscent of last year's Scribbled Bouquet cardigan. The flower design is very similar, but there aren't as many of them as on the Anthro version. The Target version comes in four pretty colors: blue, green, pink, and beige.
They're on sale now for $20 but it looks like they're sold out online -- but check stores!!

Here I am wearing it on Friday:

Purple Dress & Cami (Old Navy)
Cardigan (Target)
Purple Belt (Anthropologie)
Initial Necklace (Urban Outfitters)
Wedges (Target)

While browsing at Kohls this weekend I found this really cute trench coat by Elle that looks really similar to Anthro's Clinton Trench from last year. It appears to be sold out online but I found some pictures for you. Check your stores because there were several on the racks at mine in all sizes. If I needed another coat, I definitely would have picked this one up! The quality and material were very nice. I think it might be a tad longer than the Clinton Trench but the color was very close (looks lighter than it actually is in the picture). It would be a great alternative if you missed out on the Anthro one and the price is great! I'd say it might run a tad big since I could easily zip the medium up over my preggo bump. ;-)

Kohls Elle Trench:

Anthro Clinton Trench:

The Kohls trench also comes in a pretty coral color:

This Sonoma sweater isn't an exact dead-ringer for the Anthro version but it's very pretty and similar. I actually didn't give it a second look on the website but in person it is much nicer. The coral color is a rich shade and the embroidery is more visible. It also comes in blue and beige.

Kohls version:

Anthro version:

These peep-toe heels by the brand SO look so much like the Seychelles "Trip the Light Fantastic" sandals. If they had come in other colors besides black, I would have snapped these up!

Kohls version:

Seychelles version:

Last, these cute braided SO sandals look a lot like the Seychelles "Get Outta Town" flats, but again, the color selections were more limited (only silver and black). There have been other look-alikes of these sandals over the last year (Target had some last year and DSW has a brand called LifeStride that look the same) but this pair is the least expensive option that I've seen.

The silver was nice but had a goldish undertone that wasn't quite what I was looking for, so I got them in black. They were an extra 10% off at my store. I wore them for several hours on Saturday and found them to be comfortable. They seem to run true to size.

Have a great week everyone! :-)

Tampa Anthro Reviews (Dresses & Skirts) + Some Old Navy Deals

While we were in Tampa this weekend for the Rays (baseball) Fan Fest, I got to stop by Anthropologie. I'll post the rest of our pictures from the weekend tomorrow but tonight I have some reviews! :-)

I didn't even notice these Tabitha skirts online but they caught my eye in the store. I liked the color and fit of the navy Shaded Glory Skirt a lot, although I would probably hem it just a smidge. The Eastpointe Garden Top looked pretty with the skirt, although I don't think the color really works on me. Tucked in, it almost looks like a dress, doesn't it?

I also randomly grabbed the Wind Smocked Henley to try on with the skirt and it actually made a cute combo. I really love this shirt, especially in the purple! I will probably pick it up on sale in this color and the blue (and maybe the grey too!). I'm wearing the small here which fit well but I'd probably go up a size to accommodate the growing baby bump. :-)

I love the purple color of the Runny Yoke Skirt but the pleats on this one just didn't work for me. It looked a bit strange around the hips too. This skirt seemed a little shorter than the Shaded Glory Skirt above and was a little tighter.

The Miss Swiss Corset Dress looks awful on me but it really is an adorable dress and I'm sure it will look good on others. I sized up and it was still pretty snug so I'd say this one might run a bit small. The stripes were not flattering on me at all but the ruffles at the hem are super cute.

The Sunny Soiree Dress looked lovely on the hanger but I didn't like it once I got it on. The neckline is too high for me and I felt like it was strangling me. The top white part was very see-through so I guess you'd have to wear a slip or cami underneath. The pattern on the skirt was really cute though.

I was also hoping to find these three dresses to try on but they were nowhere to be seen. :-(

Pezza Dress: I can't wait until this arrives at my store because the color is beautiful and it looks stretchy & comfortable. It reminds me of the Vagabond dress but more summery. Check out Jacquelyn's review here -- she didn't like it but I think it looks great on her!

In An Instant Dress:

Windsor Knot Dress -- Has anyone seen this in stores yet??

I didn't buy anything at Anthro but I did pick up a few things at Old Navy that were on sale. I found this cute ruffled tank for 11.99 (it's more online for some reason but still on sale). It reminds me a bit of Anthro's Insouciant Tank from last year. I got it in this nice grey-blue color but it also comes in white, pink, and purple.

I also got a cute pair of grey tights for 4.99 and a purple maternity t-shirt for 10.00. FYI: The cool purple tights I wore here are also on sale for 4.99 but I don't see them online so check your stores.

Did anyone else do any shopping this weekend? Find any good deals?
