OOTD x 3: Trying New Things

It's getting warm here in Florida so I've been wearing some new clothing items lately, trying to beat the heat. :-)

First up is a new dress I got from Old Navy (from the regular clothing section) and I really love the purple color (which they call "Orchid Sizzle" online). I had originally planned to wear a beige or cream cardigan but my yellow cardigan caught my eye when I opened the closet and I thought I'd try a new color combo. I like how it turned out! I felt very Springy and the colors reminded me a bit of an Easter egg. ;-)

Dress: Old Navy
Cardigan: Bealls
Tank: Belk
Sandals & Sunglasses: Target

In these next two outfits I went a little outside my usual style comfort zone with the shirts. Since I'm short I usually tend to avoid long shirts but being pregnant has allowed me to explore some different styles. I really like this floral shirt from the regular section of Old Navy. I just went up a size to have room for the bump and I think I'll still be able to wear it post-pregnancy as a layering piece (probably belted).

Floral Top: Old Navy
Cardigan: Target
Shorts: Motherhood Maternity
Flip Flops: LOFT

This next shirt isn't something that I would have bought myself (it was a gift from Mom) but I like the plaid and the colors. It felt a little tent-like but it was nice and cool for a walk around the park and there was plenty of room for a belly full of pizza after lunch. ;-) I'm wearing my grey shorts again which I love but I'm wondering if this top might be cuter with denim capris.

Maternity Shirt: JC Pennys (gift from Mom)
Shorts: Motherhood Maternity
Sandals: Target

I hope everyone is having a good start to their week! It's overcast here but I've been pretty productive so far today despite the gloom outside.

A to Z

I thought I'd add my answers for this fun A to Z list that's been going around the blogosphere. Check out recent posts by Sara, Spiffy, Gigi, and Ginger Girl too.

A. Age: 31.

C. Chore you dislike: Dusting. Ugh!

D. Dogs: 2 little cuties! ;-)

E. Essential start to your day: I check my email and read blogs/Facebook to help me wake up and then hop in the shower.

F. Favorite color: Purple and blue, it's a tie.

I. Instruments you play(ed): piano, clarinet, and saxophone

P. Pet peeves: Rude, inconsiderate people.

Q. Quote from a movie: From "Office Space," in response to a comment that Peter has been missing work a lot lately, he says: "Can't say I've been missing it!" My husband and I quote this all. the. time. ;-)

Variations on a Theme (OOTD Catch-up, Part 1)

I've been wearing a lot of stretchy jersey dresses lately to stay comfortable as my belly expands. :-) These two dresses that my mom got me from the regular section at Bealls have gotten a lot of wear. They have an empire waist so they work great for me. I've paired them with different light-weight cardigans, stretchy belts, and sandals, and even tried layering a blouse underneath.

Turquoise Cardigan (Target)
Gift Bow Belt (Anthropologie)

Today I got this purple dress from Old Navy, so I'll have yet another comfy dress to add to the rotation. I might have to pick it up in black too. ;-)

Bird Necklace

Sorry I haven't posted much lately! I have taken a few OOTD photos though so I'll do a catch-up post on Monday. In the meantime, check out this cute new necklace that I bought from Etsy seller Menuet Designs. I love the little birdie and I'm wearing it in honor of my little baby bird due in August. Her nursery is going to be bird-themed, so the necklace was perfect to go along with that. :-)

I'm wearing it today:

I highly recommend this Etsy seller. She's in Canada but didn't charge much for shipping and I got it quickly. She has so many beautiful pieces of jewelry, the quality is great, and the prices are very reasonable. Right now she is donating 20% of all sales to the Japan Red Cross, so head on over to her site and get yourself something pretty while also helping out those in Japan who are recovering from the earthquake.

Have a great weekend!

Anniversary Weekend

This past weekend we celebrated our anniversary by going out for Thai. Yum! Also, being the book nerds that we are, we went to the big library book sale not once, but twice! On Friday we got a bunch of books to start the baby's collection and then we went back on Sunday and got a ton of books for ourselves. :-)

Tiny Windows Dress (Anthropologie)
Lace Tank (Old Navy)
Initial Necklace (Urban Outfitters)
Gift Bow Belt (Anthropologie)
Sandals (Target)

Baby bump:

Here was my casual outfit on Saturday. I don't wear shorts often but I got these cute maternity shorts last week and they're actually really comfortable and don't look too bad. I think these will get lots of wear this summer!

Purple T-shirt (Old Navy Maternity)
White Tank (Belk)
Anselle Necklace (Anthropologie)
Grey Shorts (Motherhood Maternity)
Silver Sandals (Target)

Nesting

Since we now know that we're having a baby girl, the shopping has begun! ;-) My mom went with me this morning to Pottery Barn Kids to pick up this adorable crib bedding for the nursery:

I just love the little birds! I also like the pink and green combo. We're going to have a darker wood crib though rather than the white. I saw a cute one in cherry at Target that we might get. My "nesting" instincts have really kicked in this week and it's really fun buying girl stuff. :-)

We also got this cute pink Rays (baseball) onesie set at Target as a surprise for my husband so he can dress his little girl up to support his favorite team.

Thanks everyone for all of your nice comments in my last post! It's fun getting to share all of my baby-related updates with you all. :-)
