OOTD: Coral & Dots (and Maia too!)

Yesterday we started week 2 of classes. Besides enjoying being back in the classroom teaching my wonderful students, I also really love putting together outfits for class! ;-) It's fun to have a reason to dress up. For yesterday's outfit I pulled out this old skirt that I love because I can wear so many different colors with it. It's also a great summer-to-fall transition piece because the colors work for both seasons but the material is light-weight enough for the warm weather that we've been having. I paired it with this coral cardigan that I got on sale earlier this summer.

Coral cardigan from LOFT
Target wedges & belt

While I'm at school Maia gets to spend time with her daddy and they are developing their own little routine. It's funny how he's found things to entertain her and keep her happy that are different than the things I do with her. She loves to have some "tummy time" on the couch next to him while he works on the laptop (but doesn't really like to do this with me for some reason). He found a radio station on the TV that she loves listening to -- her favorite music used to be what we called "Lawrence Welk" songs but lately she's been into this "Groove" station that he found. heehee :-)

Here she is snoozing next to her brother Jeffy:

Book Club: The Help

I just finished The Help over the weekend for the book club that Carol at In Pursuit of Pretty Things is organizing. Has anyone else read it? I thought it was really good and I'm looking forward to discussing it with the other book club members. If you've read the book or plan to soon, go over and check out Carol's post and plan to join us for the discussion!

Back to School OOTD: Color-Blocked

It's been a busy few days here! My sister came for a visit over the weekend to see Maia and she really enjoyed getting to spend some time with her. Then Maia turned one month old on Monday! I can't believe she's already that old. The time is flying by.

Yesterday was my first day back at school teaching twice a week for a few hours. Luckily my husband gets to work from home on those two days so he was able to take care of Maia while I was gone. He said she did great! I missed her a lot though.

Here's my first day of school outfit:

Color-Blocked Sweater Skirt (Anthropologie)
White Blouse (Ann Taylor)
Necklace (Anthropologie)
Wedges (Target)

And a couple of cute Maia pictures ;-)

Anthro + Baby

Check out Molly's recent blog post about Anthro-lovers rocking the baby bump: HERE. I sent her a couple of pictures of my favorite Anthro outfits that I wore while I was pregnant and she included them along with some other very stylish ladies. I love seeing how others styled their bumps and remained fashionable! ;-)

Mommy & Maia: First Anthro Shopping Trip

Can you believe Maia is already 3.5 weeks old?! This weekend my mom and I took her on her first shopping trip (we had to buy some presents for her daddy's birthday) and of course we had to make a stop at Anthropologie.

She was getting a little sleeping and yawning in this picture but she enjoyed the bright colors and music in the store and the sales people loved seeing the littlest Anthro fan. :-)

My mom got me the Colorblocked Sweater Skirt to wear on my first day back at school next week.

Did anyone else do any shopping this past weekend? It was a tax-free weekend in Florida so we got a little break on our purchases! :-)

Mommy & Maia: What a Doll

Maia is two and a half weeks old now and doing great! She just had a check-up the other day and is already 8 lbs. She got to visit with some more friends and family over the past two days and everyone loves her. This weekend her other grandma is coming back for a visit and then her aunt (my sister) will be visiting for a few days too. We just love showing off our little doll! :-)

Speaking of dolls, is anyone else an American Girl fan? I have quite a collection that I'll be sharing with my little girl someday. Yesterday I got an email about the new historical dolls that are being released this year and I think they will need to join our collection too! I especially love the one on the left in the picture below. It looks like they will have an interesting story also, set in mid-nineteenth century New Orleans.

I'm already starting to plan which doll I'll get for Maia first (in a few years). The following three will probably look most like her.

If her eyes stay blue, we might go with this modern doll and she can name her whatever she wants:

I also love this one -- historical doll Rebecca:

And this one if Maia's hair ends up getting darker like Daddy's -- historical doll Ruthie:

It's going to be so fun shopping for my girl! ;-)

Mommy & Maia: Groceries, Surfing & Snuggling

Today I took Maia to the grocery store all by myself! This was my first time driving in awhile and the first time it's been just the two of us. She did great and slept pretty much the whole time. The rest of the afternoon was spent snuggling on the couch and surfing on the computer. Here's my little buddy hanging out next to me:

I love this Hello Kitty outfit from Sara (Mommyland)!

OOTD: Pizza & Ladybugs

The other day we went to a new pizza place in town and it was SO good! They had both New York style thin crust and Chicago style deep dish. We were really hungry so we went for the Chicago style. Yum!

Here's what I wore:

Maia's First Week Recap

On Friday, Maia was one week old! I can't believe how fast the time is flying by. We had a little party for her at grandma's house with a few friends after dinner at the beach.

Daddy holding his little beach baby. We hope someday she'll like the beach and swimming as much as we do.

Party at Grandma's!!

Sydney (daughter of Sara -- Mommyland) helped Maia blow out the candle on her cake.

Here's a recap of our first week with baby Maia. It's been a GREAT week! :-)

Just an hour or two after she was born. I couldn't believe how tiny she was!

Daddy holding his little princess:

Ready to leave the hospital and take our little girl home!

Working Mama (grading papers for my online classes). Notice the pooped out little puppy next to me too. He has been a little overwhelmed by his new sister and all of her stuff!

Cozy in her towel after her first bath at home:

Sweet Maia loves to be rocked in the glider chair.

I love my girl more than I could have ever imagined! It's been so fun taking her out for little adventures all week, as well as just snuggling with her at home. She's an incredibly good baby, we're SO lucky!

Thanks for letting me share with all of you about my baby girl and the beginning of my amazing experiences as a mother. I appreciate all of the kind comments and well wishes everyone has left for us. Maia will be a regular feature here on the blog, so you can expect to see lots more of her! ;-)
