Exciting News!

I've got some exciting news to share! It's been hard to keep it a secret but I had to wait until we'd told our family.

We're having a baby! I'm due at the beginning of August. It wasn't totally planned but we're really excited.

I still plan to keep this blog mostly focused on fashion / Anthro, but I'll share some occasional baby updates and you'll see my bump get bigger as I try to retain the essence of my usual style. Any tips on maternity wear, maternity fashion blogs, or just any pregnancy-related links or advice you found useful are welcome! :-) Fashion-wise, I'm excited that one of my favorite bloggers, S. from Academichic is also pregnant (and only about 2 weeks ahead of me) so I'll be able to get some inspiration from her and the archives of one of her co-bloggers E. who documented her pregnancy fashion two years ago.

I'm not showing much yet and still able to wear all of my regular clothes. I think stretchy dresses like this one will soon be my preferred choice though!

Here's a little bump shot. I'm exaggerating it a bit here. I've never had a flat stomach (even when I was thin). Sometimes it sticks out a bit but mostly you can't really tell yet.

It will be fun sharing my journey with all of you!

  13. Yay! Congrats! Can I ask a personal question? What year are you in grad school? I assume later? (e.g. ABD) I'm in grad school too and we're talking about when to start a family.

    So happy for you!

  14. Thanks for all the sweet comments everyone! I will definitely post baby updates and bump pictures since people are interested. It will be fun seeing how my style evolves too. ;-)

Victoria: Yes, I'm ABD and ideally will finish my dissertation by the end of the year. It's tough to decide when the right time is to start a family when you're in grad school. I think it's going to work out well for us but we do have lots of family nearby to help so that will make it easier.

  16. Debbie!!! Congratulations! What wonderful news! I'm so for you and your husband! Oh, I'm just dying to meet little Debbie!!! Yay! (hmm...how many exclamation points can I fit into one comment, hahaha?) Oh, and my husband was pretty much ABD when I got pregnant and actually finished his dissertation during Rowan's first year, which is when I was still pretty much working full-time and he was home, as the primary caregiver. So, just in case you were wondering, it can be done. ^_-
